Hi! This is my 9th year teaching art. Go Cobras!

Born in Raleigh, raised in Atlanta, but I spent my first 4 years teaching, middle school, in Chattanooga, TN, 3 years teaching elementary in Clarksville and I am one of the Kirkwood Middle opening teachers. I earned my undergrad in studio art with an emphasis in photography from Georgia Southern University. I earned my Master's degree in general education from University of Tennessee Chattanooga.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband, 4 kids, and rescue dogs. I love doing anything outside, but especially, camping, SUP, hiking, skiing hang gliding, sky diving, and traveling.

Art students, I HIGHLY suggest bringing a folder with pockets. It is not mandatory but will be extremely helpful.

Students are expected to actively participate, every day. The first day of a new project is extremely important as this is when the lesson and project planning take place. The subsequent days are, what we refer to as, studio days (work days). If a student misses a day, it is their responsibility to figure out what they missed and discuss and make-up plan, with me. Students are expected to take creative risks and practice new skills while elevating their own craftsmanship ability. Every student is expected to be respectful of others. This is a safe place where we are able to express ourselves. Being disrespectful, to others or to oneself, will not be tolerated. Lastly, students are expected to try their best. Art can be intimidating, but I do not expect perfection. Art is never perfect! If we follow expectations and try our best, all students can be successful. Please see the syllabus for more information.
